Common problems at the counter
Thousands of small items
Screws, hinges, handles, bends, elbows, taps, washers. The counter boy knows where half of them are and the price of fewer. A notebook or a memory-based rate list gives a different price every day.
One tap, five finishes
The same pillar cock comes in Chrome, Matt Black and Gold, in 15 mm and 20 mm. If the register only says 'pillar cock', you bill the wrong price and never know which finish is actually out of stock.
Bought by the box, sold loose
Screws come in a box of 100 and go out 10 at a time. Wall plugs by the packet, cement by the bag. Without units, stock is wrong the day the box is opened.
Contractor and plumber udhaar
Plumbers and contractors pick up material for a site and pay when the client pays them. Their dues sit across several pages of a khata, and the oldest amounts are the easiest to forget.

Finish and Size on every item
Fill the optional Finish and Size fields on an item, for example Chrome and 15 mm. Keep each finish and size as its own item (or variant) so it has its own price and stock, and the counter sees exactly which one it is billing.

Barcode labels with the item's photo
Turn on 'Show item image' when you print labels and each label carries the item's photo next to its name, Finish, Size, price and barcode. Staff match the knob in the bin to the photo on the label instead of reading a code.

How do I put thousands of hardware items into billing software?
Do it once, from Excel. Put each finish and size on its own row with the item name, HSN, GST rate, price, Finish and Size, and import the file into RichPOS. No. RichPOS does not generate e-way bills or e-invoices (IRN). For a consignment above ₹50,000, make the e-way bill on the e-way bill portal and keep the RichPOS bill as the tax invoice.
Does it work without internet?
No. RichPOS needs an internet connection to bill, on the browser, the desktop apps and the Android app.
