Prices as listed on each vendor's own pricing page on 22 Oct 2026, read as a public visitor; strengths as listed on vendor sites, checked 18 to 22 Oct 2026. Offers change often, so check the vendor's page before you buy. Full dated table with sources: RichPOS price check. We make RichPOS.
If you only read one row: a shop that bills walk-in customers with a barcode scanner and wants everything in one plan should try RichPOS; a shop that needs offline billing, e-way bills or a free plan should look at Vyapar, myBillBook or Swipe first.
Which POS software fits which shop type?
Each shop type needs one or two things more than the rest, so check those first. This is where RichPOS fits and where it does not.
| Shop type | Check this first | RichPOS fits if | Look elsewhere if |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kirana and grocery | Fast barcode billing, udhaar, box and piece units | You bill packed goods and give udhaar with WhatsApp reminders | You bill loose items from a connected weighing scale (Vyapar lists it) or need offline billing |
| Clothing and boutiques | Size and colour variants, barcode tags, exchanges | You bill at a counter and handle exchanges against the bill | You sell wholesale with e-way bills |
| Footwear | Size-wise stock and barcode labels | You need size-wise stock and exchanges | You need e-way bills or offline billing |
| Medical stores | Batch, expiry and first-expiry-first-out billing | You run a retail chemist counter with patient dues | You are a pharma distributor (Marg ERP) or need drug-licence registers |
| Mobile shops | Variants, split payments, repair jobs | You sell phones and accessories and run a repair desk | You must track every handset by IMEI in stock; RichPOS does not |
| Mobile repair | Job cards, status updates, parts from stock | You log jobs from received to delivered with WhatsApp updates | You need IMEI-wise device stock |
| Cosmetics | Batch and expiry, loyalty, offers | You sell to repeat walk-in customers | Most orders come from marketplaces (Zoho Inventory) |
| Stationery and gifts | Large catalogue, barcode, gift vouchers | You bill a big catalogue at a counter | You supply schools or offices in bulk with e-way bills |
Longer guides by shop type: kirana, clothing, pharmacy, mobile shop, footwear, cosmetics, stationery, hardware and supermarket.
When is RichPOS not the right pick?
RichPOS is the wrong choice if any of these is a must-have for you. We would rather you know before the trial than after.
- Offline billing: RichPOS needs internet, also in the Windows, Mac and Linux apps.
- E-way bills or GST e-invoices (IRN): RichPOS makes GST bills and GSTR-1-ready reports, not e-way bills or e-invoices.
- Weighing-scale billing: there is no weighing-scale integration.
- IMEI or serial-number stock: an IMEI can only be typed as a note on a bill line or a repair job card.
- A free plan: RichPOS has a 30-day free trial, not a free-forever plan.
- Full accounting inside the billing app: RichPOS exports to Tally and Excel for your CA instead.
- An iPhone App Store app: on iPhone and iPad RichPOS runs in Safari or Chrome.
What should POS software for an Indian shop do?
At minimum it should make correct GST bills, keep stock right as you sell and let you leave with your data. Use this list when you compare any two apps.
- GST bills with HSN codes and the CGST/SGST or IGST split, on thermal (58/80 mm) or A4 printers.
- Barcode billing and label printing, so a bill takes seconds.
- Stock that updates with every sale, purchase and return.
- Cash, card, UPI and split payments on one bill.
- Customer dues (udhaar) with reminders.
- Staff logins with limits on discounts, edits and deletes.
- Reports your CA can use, exported to Excel, PDF or Tally.
- A clear price for year two, users and extra stores, in writing.
Which is the cheapest POS software in India?
There is no single cheapest one. Free plans exist (Vyapar mobile, Swipe, Zoho Books under ₹25 lakh turnover, Zoho POS, Zoho Inventory), each with limits. Among paid plans checked on 22 Oct 2026, Vyapar's mobile-only Silver was lowest at ₹699 a year.
RichPOS, at ₹2,000 a year (about ₹5.50 a day), is among the lowest-priced paid options: it was less than the cheapest paid GST plan of Swipe, myBillBook, Vyapar Desktop + Mobile, Marg ERP, Zoho POS, BUSY, TallyPrime, Zoho Books, GoFrugal and Zoho Inventory that day, with every feature, unlimited users and devices and more than one store in the same plan. See the dated price table.
How did we compare these apps, and how should you test one?
We make RichPOS, so read this as a vendor's guide. We did not rank or score anyone, nobody paid to be listed, and every fact about another app comes from that vendor's own website with the date we read it. Rows are in price order.
Before you pay for any POS software, test it with your own shop for a week:
- Import 50 real items Use your own names, prices, GST rates and barcodes, not demo data.
- Bill a normal rush hour Time 20 real bills with your scanner and printer.
- Check the bill Make sure it shows your GSTIN, HSN codes and the tax split.
- Run your CA's reports Export GSTR-1 data and a sales report for the test week.
- Ask for the year-two price Get renewal, extra user and extra store prices in writing.
