How to use it

  1. Add your items. Type the item name, price and how many labels you need. Leave the barcode empty to get an automatic number, or type the barcode already on the pack. Paste many items from Excel at once.
  2. Pick the barcode type. Choose EAN-13 for 13-digit numbers like packed goods, or Code 128 for item codes with letters such as SKU-104.
  3. Pick the label size. Choose the A4 sheet you bought (65, 48, 24 or 21 labels per sheet) or a 50 × 25 mm or 38 × 25 mm thermal roll. Add your shop name and choose MRP or Price.
  4. Print at actual size. Press Print labels and set Scale 100% (Actual size) and Margins None. Print one test page on plain paper, hold it against the label sheet, and nudge the labels by a millimetre if needed.

Questions

Is this barcode generator really free?

Yes. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no limit except 1,300 labels per print run. The barcodes are drawn in your browser, so your item list is not sent to us. Your WhatsApp number is only asked if you want the bonus Excel file.

Will the barcodes scan with my shop scanner?

Yes, if they print sharp and large enough. The tool draws standard EAN-13 and Code 128 barcodes with quiet zones, which every USB and Bluetooth retail scanner reads. Print at 100% scale, use a laser or thermal printer if you can, and keep long Code 128 codes on bigger labels.

Can I use these EAN-13 numbers on products I sell to other shops?

No. Automatic numbers here start with 20, which GS1 keeps for in-store use, so they are fine on goods inside your own shop. To sell packed goods to other retailers or online marketplaces, you need your own barcode numbers from GS1 India.

EAN-13 or Code 128: which should I use?

Use EAN-13 when your codes are 12 or 13 digits, such as the barcode already printed on a pack. Use Code 128 for your own item codes that mix letters and digits, like KUR-BLU-L. Both work with normal shop scanners.

Which label sheet should I buy?

For price tags on clothes, cosmetics and stationery, 65 labels per A4 sheet (38 × 21 mm) is the most common and cheapest. Use 48 or 24 per sheet when you need a bigger price or longer names. For a thermal label printer, 50 × 25 mm rolls are the usual size.

My labels print a little off the sheet. What do I do?

First check the print box says Scale 100% or Actual size, not Fit to page, and Margins None. If the labels are still off, use 'Nudge them' to move all labels right or down by a millimetre or two and print a test on plain paper.

Can I print on a thermal label printer like TSC or Zebra?

Yes, through the printer's normal driver. Choose the 50 × 25 mm or 38 × 25 mm size here, set the same label size in the printer settings, and print. Each label prints as one page.
