Billing Software for Sweet Shops, Namkeen Stores and Bakeries
Quick answerA sweet shop bills the same counter in kilos, grams, boxes and packets, with a rush before every festival and gift orders on credit. RichPOS takes decimal quantities in kg or gram (750 g of kaju katli), bills packed boxes by barcode, tracks batch and best-before date with the earliest date sold first, keeps credit for bulk and corporate orders, and puts HSN and the GST rate of each item on the bill. It is free for 30 days, then ₹99 a month for 3 months and ₹199 a month after. It does not do recipe costing or restaurant orders.
RichPOS helps a mithai, namkeen or bakery counter bill loose sweets by weight and packed boxes on the same bill, sell the oldest batch first, and keep a clean udhaar record for bulk orders. It runs in the browser and on Android, prints on thermal or A4, and costs ₹99 a month for the first 3 months after a free 30-day trial, then ₹199 a month.

Is RichPOS the best billing software for a sweet shop in India?
Updated
No single billing software is best for every sweet shop. RichPOS is a good fit if you sell loose sweets by kg or gram and packed boxes on the same bill, you want the earliest best-before batch sold first, you take bulk and gift orders on credit or you need nil, 5% and 18% lines on one bill. It costs ₹1,999 a year on the Dukaan plan (about ₹5.50 a day), or ₹99 a month for the first 3 months and ₹199 a month after, following a free 30-day trial, which is among the lowest-priced paid options in India. It is not the right pick if you need recipe costing, kitchen orders or table billing or your counter must bill without internet.

| You must issue e-way bills or GST e-invoices (IRN) | Vyapar, myBillBook (Pro Max) or Marg ERP | Each lists e-way bills and e-invoicing on its own site (checked 18 Oct 2026). RichPOS does not make either. |
| You want a free plan, not a trial | Vyapar (mobile), Swipe, Zoho Books, Zoho POS or Zoho Inventory | Each listed a free plan with limits on 22 Oct 2026. RichPOS has a 30-day free trial, then a paid plan. |

Common problems at the counter
Loose and packed on one bill
Half a kilo of barfi, a 250 g box of soan papdi, a packet of bhujia and a dozen cookies. If the software only knows pieces, the counter does the weight sums on paper and the bill is wrong when the queue is long.
The festival rush
Diwali, Raksha Bandhan and Holi can mean a week of queues, boxes packed in advance and phone orders. A slow billing screen at that hour costs customers, and a mistake in the price list is repeated all day.
Short shelf life
Fresh sweets, cakes and namkeen carry a best-before date. Stock that is not checked goes stale at the back, and the shop finds out when a customer complains.
Gift boxes and bulk orders on credit
Offices, temples and families order 20 or 50 boxes and pay later. The advance and the balance live in a notebook, and the oldest dues are the easiest to forget.

Built for the way you sell
Sell by kg, gram or piece
Set loose sweets up with a unit such as kg or gram and type the quantity at billing, for example 0.75 kg of kaju katli. The price is worked out from your rate. Packed boxes, cookies and namkeen packets are scanned or searched on the same bill.
- Decimal quantities, so 250 g, 0.75 kg and 2 kg all work
- Quick search by the first letters: 'kaju', 'gulab'
- Loose and packed items on one invoice
- Rate per kg changes in one place when your ingredients cost changes
Weighing-scale labels, if you have one
If your counter uses a label-printing weighing scale, the scale prints a barcode with the weight or price inside it. Scan it and RichPOS adds the item with that weight. Mark the item 'Sold by weight' and give it the same Scale PLU code as in the scale. RichPOS does not read a scale over a cable.
- Works in the browser POS, the classic POS and the Android app
- Off by default: turn it on in Settings > Store > Sales
- A real item barcode always wins over a scale label
Packed boxes with their own barcode
Give a pack its own barcode and price, and print labels from the app for boxes you fill yourself. Buy cartons and sell packets with units such as 1 Box = 12 PCs, each with its own price and barcode, and see stock as boxes plus pieces.
- Barcode label printing for items that have none
- Any conversion factor per item
- Separate box price and box barcode
Batch and best-before date
Record the batch and expiry or best-before date when stock comes in. At billing, RichPOS picks the earliest-expiring batch first (FEFO), and the stock report shows what is about to run out of date.
- Useful for packed namkeen, cookies, cakes and bought-in sweets
- Earliest date sold first, so nothing waits at the back
- Low-stock alerts for boxes, ghee and dry fruit
Bulk and corporate orders on credit
Make a quotation for 50 boxes and turn it into a bill in one click. The unpaid part goes to the customer's ledger, part payments are recorded as they come, and the due can be sent on WhatsApp from their record.
- Optional credit limit per customer
- Customer GSTIN printed on the bill when saved on the customer
- Reminders go when you tap send; they are not automatic
HSN and the right GST rate on each line
Save the HSN code and GST rate once per item and every bill uses them: sweetmeats, namkeen, chocolates and cakes sit at 5%, and bread is nil, so one bill can carry several rates correctly. Sales reports group by HSN and rate for your CA.
- Rates as in our GST rate list, notified from 22 September 2025
- Add your FSSAI number to the invoice terms text; do a test print to check how it looks
- Export to Excel, CSV, PDF or Tally
From opening to closing
Set up: import the price list
Import items from Excel with HSN, GST rate, unit and price. Add the loose sweets in kg and the packed boxes with barcodes.
Before the festival: stock and offers
Enter purchases with batch and best-before dates, print labels for new boxes, and set an offer such as a bill % off if you use Dukaan Plus.
Rush hour: weigh, type, scan
Type the weight, scan the box or the scale label, take UPI or cash and print on thermal. Two staff users can bill at once on Dukaan.
Closing: dues and expiry
Check cash, send dues reminders for bulk orders and look at the batches closest to their date.
How do I bill sweets by weight in billing software?
Make each loose sweet an item with a unit such as kg or gram and your rate per unit, then type the weight at billing. RichPOS accepts decimals, so 0.75 kg of kaju katli is worked out from your rate. If you use a label-printing weighing scale, scan the scale's label instead and the weight comes in with the item. Packed boxes are scanned by barcode on the same bill. RichPOS does not read a scale connected by cable.
What to look for before you choose
- Decimal quantities in kg and gram for loose sweets, not only whole pieces.
- Packed boxes billed by barcode on the same bill, with labels you can print.
- Batch and best-before date with the earliest date sold first.
- HSN and the GST rate saved per item, with nil, 5% and 18% lines on one bill.
- Quotation to bill for bulk orders, with part payments and a customer ledger.
- Fast enough at festival rush: keyboard search, scanner and thermal printing.
- Check separately if you need recipe costing, kitchen orders or table billing; RichPOS is retail billing, not restaurant software.

RichPOS Dukaan costs ₹1,999 a year (about ₹5.50 a day), or ₹199 a month after ₹99 a month for the first 3 months, with a free 30-day trial first. On 22 October 2026 that was less than the 1-year price of the entry paid GST billing and stock plan of Swipe, myBillBook, Vyapar Desktop, Marg ERP, Zoho, BUSY, TallyPrime and GoFrugal.
What the ₹1,999 Dukaan plan includes:
- GST billing, barcode stock, purchases, udhaar, WhatsApp bills, GST reports and an online catalog
- 2 staff users, 1 location, 2,000 items and 1,500 bills a month; unlimited devices
- Web app on any browser, free Windows, Mac and Linux desktop apps, and an Android app
- No setup fee and no GST. More users, locations and modules: Dukaan Plus ₹3,999, Business ₹5,999, Business Pro ₹8,999 a year
What you do not get at this price: offline billing, GST e-invoices (IRN), e-way bills or a weighing scale connected by cable (it does read barcode labels from label-printing scales). RichPOS does not do these; Vyapar, Swipe (Jet) and myBillBook (Pro Max) list e-way bills, and Vyapar lists offline billing.
See the dated price table with 10 other billing apps.
Vyapar's mobile-only Silver plan (₹699 a year) costs less than RichPOS, and Vyapar, Swipe, Zoho Books, Zoho POS, Zoho Inventory and BUSY Express have free plans with limits.
Common questions
What is the best billing software for a sweet shop?
One that bills loose sweets by weight and packed boxes on the same bill, puts the right GST rate on each line, sells the oldest batch first and tracks credit on bulk orders. RichPOS does these in the browser and on Android for ₹99 a month for the first 3 months, then ₹199 a month, or ₹1,999 a year, after a free 30-day trial. If you need recipe costing or table billing, choose software built for restaurants.
Can I sell mithai by kg and gram?
Yes. Set the item up with a unit such as kg or gram and enter the quantity at billing; decimals like 0.75 kg work and the amount is worked out from your rate. Packed items can be scanned on the same bill.
Does it work with a weighing scale?
With a label-printing weighing scale, yes: the scale prints a barcode with the weight or price inside, and scanning it adds the item with that weight. Mark the item 'Sold by weight' with the same Scale PLU code as in the scale. RichPOS does not read the weight from a scale connected by cable (USB or serial).
What GST rate do sweets, namkeen and cakes carry?
On our GST rate list, sweetmeats, namkeen and bhujia, chocolates, and biscuits, cakes and pastries are at 5%, and bread is nil, as notified from 22 September 2025. Check each item on the GST rate pages before you set it, and ask your CA about your own case. RichPOS prints the rate you save on the item.
Can I track best-before dates?
Yes. Enter the batch and expiry or best-before date when stock comes in. RichPOS sells the earliest-expiring batch first and the stock report shows what is close to its date. It tracks dates for stock you buy in; it does not manage production or recipes.
Can I take bulk Diwali orders on credit?
Yes. Make a quotation, turn it into a bill, and the unpaid part goes to the customer's ledger. Record part payments, set an optional credit limit and send the due on WhatsApp from their record. Reminders go when you tap send.
Does the bill show the FSSAI number?
RichPOS has no separate FSSAI field. You can put your FSSAI licence number in the invoice terms text that prints on the bill; do a test print on your printer to see how it looks. Check the FSSAI rules for your kind of shop.
Is this restaurant software?
No. RichPOS is retail billing: counter sales, stock, GST and credit. It has no table billing, kitchen orders or recipe costing. A sweet shop with a cafe section should check that it can bill the cafe separately.
Does it work without internet?
No. RichPOS needs an internet connection to bill, in the browser, the desktop apps and the Android app.
