How to use it
- Add your business. Type your shop name, address and GSTIN. The state is read from the first two digits of the GSTIN. Add a logo if you like; it stays in your browser.
- Add the customer. Enter the buyer's name and address. If they are GST registered, add their GSTIN; the place of supply is set from it. For an unregistered buyer, choose the state.
- Fill invoice details. Choose tax invoice or bill of supply, keep or change the invoice number (up to 16 characters) and pick the date.
- Add items. Search an item (atta, kurti, charger) in the GST rate list to add it with its HSN and GST rate, or type the line yourself: description, HSN, quantity, rate before GST, discount % and GST rate. Totals, CGST/SGST or IGST and the amount in words update as you type.
- Print or save as PDF. Press Print / Save as PDF. In the print window pick Save as PDF and A4 paper. Your details are kept in this browser for the next invoice.
How the invoice is calculated
| Line | Formula | Example |
|---|
| Taxable value | Qty × rate − discount | 2 × ₹499 − 10% = ₹898.20 |
|---|
| CGST and SGST | Taxable × (GST rate ÷ 2) ÷ 100, each | ₹898.20 × 2.5% = ₹22.46 + ₹22.46 |
|---|
| IGST | Taxable × GST rate ÷ 100 | ₹898.20 × 5% = ₹44.91 |
|---|
| Round off | Nearest rupee − exact total | ₹2,711.94 → ₹2,712 (+0.06) |
|---|
The discount is taken off before GST, because GST is charged on the value after a discount shown on the invoice. Read more on GST on discounts, rounding off a GST invoice and invoice number rules.

Print 4-digit HSN if your turnover last year was up to ₹5 crore and 6 digits above that. For bills under ₹200 to unregistered buyers and other B2C rules, see B2C bill rules.
This tool makes a regular GST invoice. It is not an e-invoice: it does not generate an IRN or signed QR code and does not report anything to the GST portal. Check rates and HSN codes with your CA.
Questions
Is this GST invoice generator really free?
Yes. There is no login, no limit and no watermark you cannot switch off. The invoice is built in your browser and nothing you type on it is sent to our server. Print and Save as PDF are free. The optional Excel copy, and the PDF download when you open the tool from a GST rate page, ask for your name and WhatsApp number once; after that they open straight away.
How does it decide between CGST + SGST and IGST?
It compares your state with the place of supply. If both are the same state, it splits the GST rate in half as CGST and SGST. If they are different states, it charges the full rate as IGST. The state comes from the first two digits of a valid GSTIN.
Does it check whether a GSTIN is valid?
It checks the format, the state code and the last check character, which catches most typing mistakes. It cannot tell you whether the GSTIN is active; search it on the GST portal for that.
Is this an e-invoice with IRN and QR code?
No. This makes a normal printed or PDF GST invoice. If your business must issue e-invoices (aggregate turnover above ₹5 crore in any year from 2017-18), you have to report B2B invoices to the Invoice Registration Portal to get an IRN. This tool does not do that.
Where is my data saved?
Only in your browser's local storage on this device, so your business details are ready next time. Use Delete saved data to wipe it. Clearing your browser data also removes it.
How is the total rounded?
GST is worked out on each line to the paisa, CGST and SGST separately. The grand total is then rounded to the nearest rupee and the difference is shown as a Round off line. You can switch rounding off.
Where do the HSN codes and GST rates in the item search come from?
From the same list as our HSN and GST rate finder: about 170 common shop items, read from CBIC Notification 9/2025 and 10/2025-Central Tax (Rate), in force from 22 September 2025. When an item has two rates (packed or loose, up to or above ₹2,500) you pick the line that matches. Confirm the exact classification of your product with your CA.
Does this invoice have all the fields Rule 46 asks for?
It has the fields a normal B2B or B2C tax invoice needs under Rule 46 of the CGST Rules: your name, address and GSTIN, a serial number of up to 16 characters, the date, the buyer's name, address and GSTIN (if registered), place of supply with state name and code, delivery address when different, HSN, description, quantity and unit, value, discount, taxable value, GST rate and amount for CGST/SGST or IGST, reverse charge and a signature line. You still have to fill them in correctly.
When should I issue a bill of supply instead?
A composition dealer, or a shop selling only exempt goods, issues a bill of supply and does not charge GST. Choose Bill of supply in Document type and the tax columns are removed.
