Quick answer

The best billing software for a furniture shop in India handles big-ticket bills paid in parts, quotations that turn into bills, delivery charges at the right GST rate, stock across showroom and godown, and variants such as size, colour and finish. RichPOS covers these from ₹99/month for the first 3 months, then ₹199/month or ₹2,000/year with multiple stores and warehouses included; if you regularly send furniture to other states and need e-way bills or e-invoices from the same software, Vyapar and myBillBook list those features.

A furniture shop sells fewer, costlier items than a kirana, and the sale rarely ends at the counter. The customer asks for a quotation, pays an advance, the piece comes from the godown, delivery is booked, and the balance comes later. Billing software has to follow that whole path without losing the money owed.

Which software fits which furniture shop?

RichPOS: showrooms selling to walk-in families, with a godown

Quotations convert to bills, part payments sit against the open bill until the balance is paid, and WhatsApp reminders go out from the customer's record. The showroom and godown are two locations on one account, with stock transfers between them. Purchase orders to factories can be received in full or in part, and each supplier has a running ledger. Staff logins, discount limits by role and an activity log matter when salespeople negotiate prices. See billing software for retail shops.

Where it does not fit: RichPOS does not generate e-way bills or e-invoices and needs internet. A furniture business that ships across states every week, or whose turnover requires e-invoicing, should use software that does both.

Vyapar and myBillBook: when you need e-way bills from the billing app

Vyapar lists e-invoices and e-way bills (10 e-way bills a month on Silver, unlimited on Gold) plus offline billing. myBillBook lists e-way bills and e-invoicing on its Pro Max plan. See RichPOS vs Vyapar and RichPOS vs myBillBook.

Marg ERP: manufacturers and wholesalers

Marg is a desktop ERP suited to distribution and B2B flows. Each extra user or company adds ₹3,000. See Marg alternatives.

GST on furniture bills

Most furniture (other than bamboo or cane furniture) is taxed at 18% under Notification 9/2025-Central Tax (Rate), Schedule II, from 22 September 2025: seats and sofas under HSN 9401 and other furniture such as beds, tables and almirahs under 9403. Delivery and fitting charged on the same bill are part of the value and take the furniture's rate; see packing and freight charges on a GST invoice. Full rates and HSN codes: GST on furniture.

LineAmount
Sofa set (HSN 9401)₹45,000.00
Delivery and fitting₹1,000.00
Taxable value₹46,000.00
CGST 9% + SGST 9%₹8,280.00
Bill total₹54,280.00
Advance received₹20,000.00
Balance due on delivery₹34,280.00

Figures are illustrative. Goods moved with a value above ₹50,000 usually need an e-way bill; see the e-way bill guide. If you take an advance before the furniture is supplied, ask your CA how to handle GST on it and issue a receipt voucher.

Setting up a furniture shop in RichPOS

  1. Start the free trial; add the showroom and godown as two locations.
  2. Create products with variants (size, colour, finish), HSN and 18% GST.
  3. Enter opening stock per location; raise purchase orders to suppliers.
  4. Give each salesperson a login and a maximum discount.
  5. Quote, convert to a bill, take the advance, transfer stock from godown for delivery, and collect the balance.
  6. Check the dues list weekly and send WhatsApp reminders.

Bottom line

Furniture billing is about the journey from quote to delivery to the last payment. Choose software that keeps that trail and your godown stock straight, and that is honest about e-way bills. Try your own catalogue in the RichPOS free trial or compare on the comparison page.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Which is the best billing software for a furniture shop in India?
For a showroom with a godown, pick software that converts quotations into bills, records part payments and dues, keeps stock per location, handles variants and enforces staff discount limits. RichPOS does this from ₹99/month for the first 3 months, then ₹199/month or ₹2,000/year. If you need e-way bills or e-invoices from the billing app, Vyapar and myBillBook list those features.
How do furniture shops handle advance and balance payments?
Bill the sale, record the advance as a part payment and keep the balance open against the customer until delivery. Software that tracks dues per customer and sends reminders keeps balances from being forgotten.
What is the GST rate on furniture?
Most furniture, other than bamboo or cane furniture, is taxed at 18% from 22 September 2025: sofas and seats under HSN 9401 and beds, tables, almirahs and other furniture under 9403. Delivery charged on the same bill takes the same rate.
Does RichPOS generate e-way bills for furniture deliveries?
No. RichPOS does not generate e-way bills or e-invoices. Generate the e-way bill on the e-way bill portal, or choose software that lists e-way bill generation if you need it often.
Can I manage showroom and godown stock separately?
Yes. In RichPOS the showroom and godown are separate locations on one account, with stock per location and transfers between them, and combined reports for the owner.
